Adventurous archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) races against time and Nazi agents to find the biblical Ark of the Covenant before it falls into enemy hands. When his former lover Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) becomes his reluctant partner, their rekindled romance is complicated by danger at every turn. Armed with his trusty whip and fedora, Jones must survive booby-trapped temples, snake-filled pits, and relentless pursuers. Eventually he discovers that some ancient powers are too dangerous for anyone to possess. He must now struggle to prevent the Ark's supernatural forces from being unleashed upon the world while confronting both his past mistakes and an army of fascist enemies.
